- Plan for the Weather: Marquee weddings offer a beautiful outdoor setting, but it’s crucial to plan for the unpredictable nature of the weather. Make sure your marquee can cater for your guests to circulate around comfortably inside if it’s not pleasant outside.
- Choose the Perfect Location: A beautiful marquee can bring any space to life, but it’s always a bonus when situated in a beautiful location with picturesque landscapes or a property with unique features like a dam or lovely gardens. The biggest thing to look for is a flat area which can be grassed or a hard stand like a tennis court or paved courtyard. Marquee weddings on a beach are unforgettable for guests.
- Lighting and Ambiance: Create a magical atmosphere with carefully planned lighting. Opt for fairy lights, festoon lights or lanterns to set the mood and enhance the beauty inside the marquee. The simplest option is no floor, however soft or wet ground can make thing difficult for guests. Natural matting is the most popular option, creates a solid base for guests and looks great. Matting can be arranged to create walkways around the marquee and paired with festoon lighting on ‘shepherds crooks’ to guide guests at night. The third option is a timber floor. Although more expensive, it looks fantastic and turns any area of the marquee into a dancefloor.
- Catering Considerations: Work closely with your caterer to ensure they have the necessary facilities and space to prepare and serve the food.
